Week 3: The Finale
We have reached the end of our summer research experience and the feedback we have gotten from the PATHS-UP Community has been amazing! Creative posters, innovative presentations and awesome networking connections are only a few of the things you will be taking away from this experience. Let’s make one more entry into our time capsule and discuss your journey in machine learning. To assist in arranging your thoughts, please reflect on the following questions:
- How was the process of creating a poster and research presentation? Which parts did you struggle with? What new things did you learn?
- What do you plan to bring back to your school and talk to other students/teachers about regarding this experience?
- What are you future plans for working with the concepts you learned this summer?
Week 2: Research, Classes and Programming
Can you believe that we have completed two weeks of the Young Scholars Program already?!? We have learned about machine learning from a bunch of different angles and formally started preparing our presentations for the end of next week. Let’s continue to build on our ‘virtual time capsule’ by discussing some highlights of week two. To assist in arranging your thoughts, please reflect on the following questions:
- How have your classes been going with Dr. Straach? What exciting things have you been learning?
- How is your research project going? How is it working with your team and mentor?
- Tell us some things you learned from the Diversity training you attended and graduate student talk that you were able to sit in on.
- What are you most looking forward to during the final week of the program?
Week 1: Your First Thoughts of PATHS-UP
Week 1 went quickly! We met a lot of people and had an opportunity to learn about machine learning and the PATHS-UP project. We want to capture our experiences each week and have a time capsule of the things we have learned. To assist in arranging your thoughts, please reflect on the following questions:
- What were some of the things you did to prepare for the Young Scholars Program?
- Tell us some things you learned from the faculty/graduate student talks that you were able to sit in on.
- What are your first thoughts on the research projects that you have been assigned and your mentors?
- What are you most looking forward to for week two?
Welcome to th PATHS-UP Young Scholars!
On behalf of the PATHS-UP Team and R-STEM, welcome to your three week summer internship!!!! We are all thrilled to have such wonderful students working with us this summer. And are even more excited to read about the interesting experiences you will be participating in while you complete your internships. Please use this blog page as a way to share your experience with the world. You may include pictures and videos in each post, and you are encouraged to be as expressive as you wish!
