As Associate Director of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Rice Office of STEM Engagement (R-STEM), Allen provides mathematics support for all R-STEM programs, specifically leading the ConocoPhillips Applied Mathematics Program (AMP!). In this role, he specializes in providing lesson ideas, professional development, and teacher mentoring in the field of mathematics. Particular points of emphasis include increasing numeracy and inquiry-based learning in mathematics classrooms. He also provides professional development in the Rice Excellence in Math Instruction (REMI) and the Computer Science Teaching at Rice (CSTaR) programs.

We have reached the end of our summer research experience and the feedback we have gotten from the PATHS-UP Community has been amazing! Creative posters, innovative presentations and awesome networking connections are only a few of the things you will be taking away from this experience. Week 2: Research, Classes and Programming

Can you believe that we have completed two weeks of the Young Scholars Program already?!? We have learned about machine learning from a bunch of different angles and formally started preparing our presentations for the end of next week. Week 1: Your First Thoughts of PATHS-UP

Week 1 went quickly! We met a lot of people and had an opportunity to learn about machine learning and the PATHS-UP project.
